From Struggles to Success: How One Mother Built a Legacy of Hope

Rebeca Elizabeth Andino Muñoz is a mother of four with a heart full of determination. When her husband moved to the United States in search of opportunities, Rebeca found herself carrying the weight of providing for her family.
Occasionally, she sold pigs to make ends meet, but it was never enough to create a substantiable life. The stress of juggling financial struggles and raising her children on her own weighed heavily on her. Despite the challenges, Rebeca remained hopeful, determined to find a way to give her family a better future.

Rebeca’s life transformed

Rebeca’s life transformed when the community advocate recommended her for the Business Transformation Program. As a Christian family, their faith has been central to their journey, and this was an answered prayer for them all. With two pigs and expert training, Rebeca began building a sustainable business.

In just one year, Rebeca has paid 30% of her program debt, positioning herself to finish ahead of schedule. With two pigs and expert training, Rebeca began building a sustainable business. Her herd has grown to eight female pigs, each capable of producing up to 40 piglets, creating a stable financial future for her family.
Ongoing visits and encouragement from Amigos for Christ community advocates have been crucial in guiding Rebeca’s progress. Her two eldest daughters have also stepped in to help, attending training sessions and gaining valuable skills. Their passion for animal care has inspired them to dream of becoming veterinarians, and they are now preparing to attend university. This is a powerful reflection of the family’s ongoing growth and commitment to education, since her mom just finished high school and was not able to attend college because of economic issues.
Their expertise has made them trusted resources in the community, where neighbors often seek their advice for livestock issues. Recently, they were even invited to visit nearby communities where there are some other beneficiaries to share their knowledge, showing other families that success is possible with hard work and teamwork.
With the help of her daughters, Rebeca has also turned to social media to promote their growing business. Their efforts have created a ripple effect of inspiration, proving that determination, faith, and opportunity can transform lives.

Rebeca’s journey is about more than just pigs—it’s a model business but more important is about building a legacy of hope and opportunity for her family and her community.
