Anayra Vanessa has lived in the Carlos Fonseca community for more than five years with her husband and their two daughters.
When the girls were babies, Anaya lived with a great deal of fear and uncertainty about her daughters’ futures. She dreamed of giving her girls a better quality of life, but those goals felt far out of reach.
Everything began to change when
Plan 7 entered her life.
After modern bathrooms were built in Carlos Fonseca last year, Anayra decided to become an advocate for health and positive change in her community.
Today, she leads educational talks and activities, teaching children and families about kidney health, parasite prevention, healthy habits, and the proper use of sanitation facilities.
She is driven by a desire to ensure that no other family experiences the same hardships she faced with her daughters before having access to a safe and dignified bathroom.
