Gratitude Coordinator. Sabrina has been a part of the Amigos story since it began, and she is truly grateful that she is able to tell the story of impact to our family with photographs, videos, stories, and art. Though trained as a nurse, she believes her work now is the same- she can bring healing and hope into people’s lives by allowing them to see their involvement in Amigos as God does – with deep joy that they are bringing about the Kingdom here and now for families in Nicaragua.

Economic Development 2nd Quarter Highlights

If you read our Quarter Highlights, you might remember Rafael Garaje, a leader in El Chonco, who wanted to use his knowledge of chickens to capitalize on the opportunity that Amigos gave him through our animal program. He knew that there are “seasons” in Nicaragua for raising chickens, and he wanted to use his knowledge to translate into capital for his family. Last year, he excitedly approached the Amigos for Christ Community Advocate, Carlos Corrales, with a dream to create an incubator plan, and the rest is history.

Since that day, Rafael has sold more than 200 chickens. At $5 a chicken, his family hit the earning goal of $15 a day. His chickens have also produced countless eggs which, at $2 a dozen, provide even more income.

Rafael continues to teach his incubator method to dozens of other community leaders, helping them all to increase their families’ incomes by improving chicken production. Check out the video to see the impact that one dreamer with a big heart and an abundance of determination can make!
