Gratitude Coordinator. Sabrina has been a part of the Amigos story since it began, and she is truly grateful that she is able to tell the story of impact to our family with photographs, videos, stories, and art. Though trained as a nurse, she believes her work now is the same- she can bring healing and hope into people’s lives by allowing them to see their involvement in Amigos as God does – with deep joy that they are bringing about the Kingdom here and now for families in Nicaragua.

Here for the Ride!

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

Romans 12:11

In 1999, Tomas Caceres picked up John Bland from the tiny Managua airport for the very first time, and for the 18 years that followed, Tomas’ loyalty to the Amigos for Christ mission has inspired everyone who knows him.

Tomas was initially hired as a driver, but his work ethic quickly landed him a very important role at Amigos. Tomas became the lead well driller, and for 15 years he and his team spent their days working with engineers and community members to bring clean water to thousands of Nicaraguan families. During much of this time, Tomas traveled to Managua on Saturdays to take classes in project management and business. His education set him up for a new position at Amigos, and in 2014 he was promoted to the Director of Purchasing.

Tomas now spends his days supporting nearly every aspect of Amigos for Christ. From purchasing the groceries that feed our staff and volunteers to buying the construction supplies needed at worksites, Tomas is behind the scenes of it all. He makes Amigos efficient. Tomas says his job is simple: “I serve.

When asked about the most rewarding part of his job, Tomas didn’t hesitate. “All of it. I love serving my fellow countrymen. I know that I’m a doorway to lives being changed. I bring all my enthusiasm to the table, and I try every day to be a light to the visiting missionaries and to my team. My job is amazing!

Tomas says he doesn’t plan to retire. “Why would I? I love my life. God has provided everything for me, and I get to provide for my family.” He has seen the explosive growth of Amigos and he loves to tell others he meets in Chinandega all about it.

“We get to serve. Juntos. I’m here for the ride and I don’t ever want to get off the bus!”
