  • Partnerships Coordinator (Nicaragua)

    Job Overview:

    You’re focused on Amigos' partners, both in the communities we work as well as every person who visits and supports our projects each year. Getting to know community members and weeklong missionaries, you'll create powerful cross-cultural experiences that go beyond work projects.

    As a member of the Partnerships Team, you care about people. You and your team will work to build relationships that inspire partners to invest their time, talent, and/or resources in Amigos for Christ over the long term. You’ll creatively strategize and implement cross-cultural experiences for group members and community members with the maximum impact possible, all the while supporting the Amigos for Christ mission and vision.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work closely with the group experience and project area teams to connect groups with the communities and projects with which Amigos partners.
    • Organize and schedule special projects within communities each week.
    • Create innovative strategies to facilitate continual cross-cultural connection between group members and community members.
    • Reinforce Amigos’ strategies and tactics to carry out Plan 7’s 5 goals with our community partners.
    • Spend time in communities working with leaders and key members to build deeper relationships and strategize future connections.

    Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s degree (BA) OR significant work experience (minimum 3 years, must be 21 to apply)
    • Self-starter, creative thinker
    • Ability to connect with a variety of people, high relational strengths
    • Sense of connectedness, a desire to help people connect to one another
    • Adaptability – must be able to work in a fluid environment

  • Group Health Nurse (Nicaragua)

    Job Overview:
    As a member of the Partnerships Team, you care about people. You and your team will work to build relationships that inspire partners to invest their time, talent, and/or resources in Amigos for Christ over the long term.

    You and your team focus on Mission Groups. You ensure that, from electrolyte levels to ace bandage application, each and every person is feeling 100% throughout their time in Nicaragua.

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with other nurses and staff to keep group members (missionaries) safe and healthy, provide basic first aid
    • Prevention of illnesses and injuries by educating both group members and staff
    • To assess and provide safe and effective IV therapy if necessary (mostly for dehydration)
    • Respond with proper care to possible emergencies (broken arm, heart attack, heat stroke), accurately assess if other medical attention is necessary and transport to the closest, best possible care facility
      Generate weekly medical report for each week to ensure that there are no serious health concerns prior to arrival
    • Provide information to groups and individuals on how to prevent dehydration and stay healthy
    • Research and creatively add health teaching to encourage group health, employee safety, and involvement

    Requirements:

    • Must be a registered nurse with up-to-date licensure
    • Highly organized, talented at creating and maintaining effective systems
    • Self-starter, creative thinker
    • Ability to connect with a variety of people, strong relational strengths
    • Sense of connectedness, a desire to help people connect to one another
    • Adaptability – must be able to work in a fluid environment
