Dear Amigos Family,

The seeds we’ve planted and cultivated in Nicaragua juntos over the last 25 years have grown to produce more fruit than we could have ever imagined. 2024 was a banner year of progress, marking life transformation for more families than ever before. 2024 was also a year of reflection and celebration, taking the time to recognize the true generational change that has unfolded before us over time. This is one of the gifts of being rooted so strongly in one corner of the world. Our relationships go deep, and so does our impact.

In this report, you’ll find one of my favorite indicators of this impact. 222 more families graduated from our community development program (Plan 7) in 2024. We walked beside these families for seven years to accomplish five key goals, and now they are fully equipped and inspired to continue their own transformation. Even more noteworthy, these graduates are a source of hope and guidance to 7,990 families who are currently in the midst of their transformation journey. As we often say, transformed people transform people.

Amigos Family, thank you for making Christ’s love visible in Nicaragua. This report contains the fruit of your faithful generosity. We welcome the next 25 years and find inspiration in Ephesians 3:20-21: through God at work within all of us, we’ll continue to witness immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.

Juntos,

Kristin and the Amigos Team

25 Years Juntos

Our mission is to serve to make Christ more visible.
It’s to give vision for what His love looks like. Over these 25 years, the Amigos family has come together from all over the world to serve and be light. This has paved the way for tens of thousands of lives to be transformed.

25 Years: The Beginning

“We started just to help a big problem that we saw that was in front of us. Our motivation was just to come and do whatever we could. As time progressed and more people came to join Amigos, we recognized that we could have a huge part to play in the development of Chinandega.”

— John Bland, Founder

25 Years: Transformation

“We have built a lot of water systems, and we know that this is just the beginning. We want to continue to change many lives. We want to transform the world.”

— Marierling Mejia, Country Director in Nicargua

Transforming Together

In 2024...

Our Community Development, Plan 7, guides rural Nicaraguan families to transform their communities in seven years. While they reach milestones in leadership, water & sanitation, health, education, and economic development, the greatest impact is felt through individuals and families becoming empowered to own their future.

Everyone who graduates from Plan 7 has a transformed vision of themselves, their families, and their communities. It’s a vision of loving and being loved as Jesus did.

222 families

(1,110 individuals) from 3 communities graduated from Plan 7 in 2024

167 Modern Bathrooms & 128 Clean Air Kitchens were built, creating a future of health and happiness!

Juntos, we provided access to more than 5,179,626 gallons of clean water, transforming the lives of thousands of families and empowering entire communities with health, opportunity, and hope.

We are so inspired by the young people of Nicaragua. They are a light, they are joy, and they are the future. We know that access to education changes the course of one’s life.

In 2024, 1,532 kids’ lives were filled with hope through access to education, nutrition, and recreation.

The students we work with are brilliant, wise, and inspiring. Whether it is during the Amigos Academy math competition, while the Baseball Academy receives a 1st place trophy, during a community service day with the Leaders in Action, or afterschool tutoring in Plan 7 communities, we see God’s love in action through hopeful young people.
