Working alongside our full-time team members, Amigos for Christ Interns use their God-given gifts to serve and make Christ more visible as we transform lives in rural Nicaragua. Amigos Interns have an experience that is more than just an Internship. It’s an experience that bridges what you do and why it matters. From working in community development, to hosting short-term mission groups from the States, to teaching at the local school, there’s a place for you at Amigos.

Our Positions:

On the Partnerships Team, Short-Term Interns will build meaningful relationships with group members and community members that lead to transformational connections. Short-term Interns will help to facilitate the week-long mission trip experience at the Amigos Complex and in the communities. Interns will support the Partnerships Team by welcoming and connecting with mission trip groups. Interns are critical members of the team, ensuring that volunteers have a meaningful, safe, fun, and transformational experience while serving with Amigos.

Position:
Unpaid / 6 weeks

Requirements:

Minimum Age: 18 Years Old

May 21, 2022 – July 2, 2022

July 9, 2022 – August 13, 2022

On the Amigos Academy Team, Interns assist and support teachers and students in all aspects involved in a typical school day.  Interns are expected to model the care and generosity teachers and educators have for each of their students, and Interns receive an immersive experience in a classroom with the ability to positively impact the lives of many. The Amigos Academy serves children from Pre-K to 6th grade in the areas of literacy, reading comprehension, mathematics, science, history, English as a foreign language, arts and sports.

Position:

On the Communications & Marketing Team, Storyteller Interns utilize multiple media outlets to highlight bright spots and stories of success. Interns capture the progress of our project areas, always seeking to make Christ more visible by celebrating and sharing the success of the intercultural Amigos family.

Bilingual English/Spanish

Our Business for Transformation Interns have the opportunity to contribute to a wide array of economic development projects that bring long-term, sustainable transformation to rural communities in Chinandega. These projects include a microcredit loan program, AgroAmigos, and the 1 Manzana Project. The Business for Transformation team is made up of many different areas including:

  • Accounting and Financial Management
  • Marketing and Sales
  • Data Analysis
  • Agricultural and Veterinary Technicians
  • Logistics
  • Business Management

Interns work with team leadership to find the right fit within the program and are empowered to use their unique skills and passions to make Christ more visible through business.

Requirements:

Minimum Age: 18 Years Old

On the Community Development Team, Interns help to execute the strategies and tactics utilized to achieve progress in the 5 goals of our Community Development Plan, Plan 7. Interns are involved in all areas of the team, working alongside Community Advocates to build relationships and trust with community members in order to facilitate health, water, education, economic development, and leadership.

 

Requirements:

Bilingual English/Spanish

Position:
Unpaid / 12 weeks, 480-hour position

Our Graphic Design Intern works alongside our Communications and Marketing Team to help tell the stories of life transformation happening in Nicaragua.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Design print materials such as flyers, banners, booklets, postcards, etc. using Adobe Illustrator
  • Edit English documents to create versions in Spanish (translations will be provided if necessary)
  • Personalize existing documents to share with partners
  • Assist in the upkeep of website/blog
  • Design garments and souvenirs for the Amigos Store
  • And MORE based on necessity and the skills/specialties of the Intern
     

Qualifications 

  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign 
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish/English 
  • Preferred: Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and other coding languages
  • Preferred: Some knowledge of WordPress and/or Elementor

As members of the Partnerships Team, Group Health Interns build meaningful relationships with volunteers and community members while caring for the physical and health needs of the volunteers. Group Health Interns, under the leadership of the nursing staff, will serve both at the Amigos Complex and support our projects in the communities. Responsibilities include stocking infirmary and medical bags, assisting in making medical reports for incoming mission trip groups, and holistic care of mission trip participants.

Requirements:

Minimum Age: 18 Years Old

Our Infrastructure Team is directly involved in every aspect of Amigos. From planning and organizing community water systems, to constructing Modern Bathrooms and Clean Air Kitchens, the Infrastructure Intern works alongside our engineers, architects, and masons to facilitate life transformation. The Intern also helps to create meaningful experiences for mission trip group members, connecting them to the behind-thescenes heroes of the Infrastructure Team. Opportunities might include creating schematics for water systems, designing schools and comedors, and building dignified bathrooms for families by hand. Serving as an Infrastructure Intern is an incredibly meaningful experience.

Our Monitoring and Evaluation Intern will work alongside our Strategy Team to help analyze project data so that we may optimize our resources and plans that will transform lives in Nicaragua for generations to come. We are excited to welcome an organized and detail-oriented Intern with a passion for using data to make informed decisions. 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Computer Programming 
  • Network Management 
  • Database Management

 

Qualifications:  

  • Proficient in basic statistical analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with programming languages (Python, R, SQL) 
  • Preferred: Familiar with Microsoft Power Apps 
  • Preferred but not required: Bilingual in Spanish and English

On the Water for Chinandega Team, Interns help to execute the strategies and tactics utilized to achieve progress in the Water for Chinandega Project, a dream to bring clean water to EVERY home in the department of Chinandega. Interns are involved in all areas of the team, working alongside Community Advocates to build relationships and trust with community members.
