Communications Internships

June 1 – August 14, 2020

We are looking for a team of organized, dependable, and detail-oriented interns who will work together to implement Amigos for Christ’s new brand identity. This will include a new website, brand manual, and a social media plan. The Communication Intern Team will work mainly in the United States but for one week in June, we will travel together to Nicaragua all expenses paid.

Our Communication Internship positions include:

 

  • Web Design Intern

    Dates: June 1 - August 14

    Description: The Amigos for Christ Web Design Intern will be responsible for designing, testing, and building a new WordPress website for Amigos for Christ with the assistance of Amigos’ Graphic Designer. The intern will work with a team of Communication Interns who will assist in the implementation of a new plan and brand identity for the organization. The Communication Intern Team will work mainly in the United States (either remotely or in the Buford office, if local) and will travel together to Nicaragua for a week in late June (all expenses paid).

    Benefits: Our Web Design Intern will get the opportunity to plan, test, and build a functioning WordPress website that can be used in his or her portfolio. Our Communication Intern Team will also travel together to Nicaragua for a week, all expenses paid.

    This is a volunteer (unpaid) internship. It is not a job offer and comes with no promise of employment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Using WordPress, design a new website that implements an updated wireframe, content, and brand identity
    • Test proposed site and make adjustments based on the results of these tests
    • Travel to Nicaragua to help capture images, video, and content needed for the site
    • Possibility of other projects, if time allows

    Requirements:

    • Must be proficient in basic design programs including Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Must be proficient in WordPress
    • Writing and proofing skills may be required
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
    • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
    • Team Player
    • Quick Learner and Efficient
    • High sense of urgency
    • Able to work well under pressure
    • Passport, or the ability to get a passport
    • Access to a computer and Adobe CC

  • Print Design Intern

    Dates: June 1 - August 14

    Description: The Amigos for Christ Print Design Intern will be responsible for the creation of a brand manual for Amigos for Christ with the assistance of Amigos’ Graphic Designer. The intern will work with a team of Communication Interns who will assist in the implementation of a new plan and brand identity for the organization. The Communication Intern Team will work mainly in the United States (either remotely or in the Buford office, if local) and will travel together to Nicaragua for a week in late June (all expenses paid).

    Benefits: Our Print Design Intern will get the opportunity to design a Brand Manual that can be used in his or her portfolio. Our Communication Intern Team will also travel together to Nicaragua for a week, all expenses paid.

    Responsibilities:

    • Use InDesign to design a Brand Manual that includes all of the required sections provided by the Amigos' Graphic Designer
    • Use Photoshop to edit the photos that will be included in the Brand Manual
    • If time allows, assist in updating commonly used files with the new Brand Identity
    • Travel to Nicaragua to help capture images, video, and content needed for the site
    • Assist with other projects as needed

    Requirements:

    • Must be proficient in basic design programs including Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Writing and proofing skills may be required
    • Excellent typography skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
    • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
    • Team Player

    • Able to work well under pressure
    • Passport, or the ability to get a passport

  • Copywriting Intern

    Dates: June 1 - August 14

    Description: The Amigos for Christ Copywriting Intern will be responsible for creating new voice and tone standards for Amigos for Christ with the assistance of Amigos' Graphic Designer. The intern will then use these standards to edit the content that will be used on a brand new website. The intern will work with a team of Communication Interns who will assist in the implementation of a new plan and brand identity for the organization. The Communication Intern Team will work mainly in the United States (either remotely or in the Buford office, if local) and will travel together to Nicaragua for a week in late June (all expenses paid).

    Benefits: Our Copywriting Intern will get the opportunity to create content that can be used in his or her portfolio. Our Communication Intern Team will also travel together to Nicaragua for a week, all expenses paid.

    This is a volunteer (unpaid) internship. It is not a job offer and comes with no promise of employment.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create standards for the voice and tone of Amigos for Christ that will be used in their new Brand Manual
    • Edit the content for the new Amigos website
    • Help to write stories that will be featured on the website and on social media
    • Travel to Nicaragua to help capture images, video, and content needed for the site
    • Assist with other projects as needed

    Requirements:

    • Excellent grasp of the English language from a creative standpoint
    • Excellent grasp of the English language from a grammatical standpoint
    • Preferably a major in advertising, communications, or writing
    • Writing and proofing skills
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
    • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
    • Team Player
    • Quick Learner and Efficient
    • High sense of urgency
    • Able to work well under pressure
    • Passport, or the ability to get a passport
    • Access to a computer

  • Social Media Intern

    Dates: June 1 - August 14

    Description: The Amigos for Christ Social Media Intern will be responsible for analyzing Amigos' current social media content and creating a plan to improve our engagement and implement Amigos' new branding with the assistance of Amigos' Graphic Designer. The intern will work with a team of Communication Interns who will assist in the implementation of a new plan and brand identity for the organization. The Communication Intern Team will work mainly in the United States (either remotely or in the Buford office, if local) and will travel together to Nicaragua for a week in late June (all expenses paid).

    Benefits: Our Social Media Intern will gain quantifiable results to include on future resumes. Our Communication Intern Team will also travel together to Nicaragua for a week, all expenses paid.

    Responsibilities:

    • Analyze Amigos' current social media content to show what posts have been successful/unsuccessful and why
    • Conceptualize and implement a plan to increase Amigos' social media engagement
    • If time allows, help to create a plan for targeted emails
    • Travel to Nicaragua to help capture images, video, and content needed for the site
    • Assist with other projects as needed

    Requirements:

    • Social media understanding or experience/courses
    • Extremely creative
    • Great organizational and analytical skills
    • Passionate about Social Media/Digital Marketing
    • Excellent grasp of the English language from a creative standpoint
    • Excellent grasp of the English language from a grammatical standpoint
    • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames
    • Organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
    • Team Player
    • Quick Learner and Efficient
